Clare County Development Plan Environmental Submission
On 2nd November the Environmental College of Clare PPN met remotely to discuss Clare County Council’s County Development Plan 2022-2028.The County Development Plan sets out an overall strategy for the proper planning and sustainable development of the County over a six year period. It is currently at pre-draft stage which is made up of four phases:
- Pre-Draft Public Consultation – submissions will be accepted from members of the public and prescribed stakeholders until 16th November 2020.
- Prepare Chief Executive’s Report on Consultation – the Chief Executive will prepare a report on any submissions received during this period and will submit this report to the Elected Members for their consideration.
- Directions from Members on Draft Plan – The Members may issue directions to the Chief Executive regarding the preparation of the Draft Development Plan.
- Preparation of Draft County Development Plan 2022-2028 will then commence.

They are made up of information from the Clare PPN Climate Adaptation Strategy Submission and wide consultation through the development of our Wellbeing Statement. Clare Public Participation Network Submission to Committee on Climate Action 2020
Following a meeting on Monday 2nd November of members of Clare PPN’s Environmental College and Clare Environmental Network the decision was made that Clare PPN would make a submission to the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Climate Action which has been conducting pre-legislative scrutiny of the very important Draft Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Amendment) Bill 2020.
Our submission engages with the resourcing of Local Authorities, Public Participation and with the need for Just Transition to be explicitly mandated in the Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Amendment) Bill 2020.
This submission does not cover the other aspects of this Bill and Clare PPN/CEN members may make further submissions on the targets, wording, and ambition of it at a later date.

The Limerick-Shannon Metropolitan Area Transport Strategy will be instrumental in the regeneration and transformation of Limerick City and the wider Limerick-Shannon Metropolitan Area. Join Clare PPN to discuss the Public Consultation Document and to have your say and to inform the PPN submission.
