Alex Whyatt
Alex Whyatt took up the role of Environment Rep for Clare PPN on Clare’s Economic Development SPC in October 2024.
Alex is the Global Citizenship Education Coordinator with Global Action Plan, an environmental NGO and member organisation of Clare PPN. His work supports people and groups from all walks of life to critically engage with issues related to climate change, inequality, development and social justice. He facilitates workshops, develops educational resources and supports individuals and groups to develop the knowledge, values and skills to act for more sustainable communities.
He advocates for inclusive climate action at a national and international level through networks such as the Irish Environmental Network, Coalition 2030 and Global Action Plan International.
Alex grew up in Ennis and taught English language in South Korea and Czechia before working on education development projects in Lebanon. He holds a masters degree in International and Comparative Education research from Stockholm University and a bachelor’s in Arts from University College Cork. He is also the co-secretary of Sixmilebridge Community Development Association and enjoys photography, reading and cooking.
